Leadership Team
James (Jim) Rechtin, President and Chief Executive Officer, joined Humana in January 2024, having served as President and Chief Operating Officer until July 2024. Under his leadership, Humana operates as a leading integrated care delivery model centered on improving health outcomes, driving lower costs, enhancing quality, and providing a simple and personalized member and patient experience.
Jim brings to Humana a strong combination of operational, industry, M&A and CEO expertise. His first-hand experience leading through the challenges and opportunities of a changing health care services continuum will help accelerate our integrated care strategy at pace.
Prior to joining Humana, Jim served as President and CEO at Envision Healthcare. He has more than 22 years of health care experience with a focus on the delivery of value-based care in various medical group settings, including a deep understanding of Medicare Advantage. Prior to joining Envision, Jim served as President of OptumCare, part of UnitedHealth Group. Before that, Jim was with DaVita Medical Group, which he joined in 2014 and played the dual roles of Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and President of DaVita Medical Group’s California market. Further, he is a 14-year veteran of Bain & Company, highlighting his depth of experience in health care mergers and the overall health care sector.
Early in his career, Jim ran operations for a nonprofit health and human services clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana, and served in the United States Peace Corps in the Republic of Congo. He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University.
| David Dintenfass, President, Enterprise Growth, joined Humana in February 2024. In this role, David is responsible for leading the Company’s growth strategy, with a focus on customer acquisition, retention, and experience. David is a seasoned general management, marketing and sales executive, with more than 30 years of experience across consumer banking, wealth and asset management, and consumer-packaged goods. David is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company's strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. Prior to joining Humana, David had a series of leadership roles at Fidelity Investments from 2015-2024 where he most recently served as Executive Vice President, Head of Product and Emerging Segments, leading a P&L portfolio across retail and workplace investing. David also served as Fidelity’s Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Customer Experience Design. Before Fidelity, David spent over five years at Bank of America in a variety of strategy and marketing roles across Consumer and Small Business banking and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Earlier in his career, David spent 13 years at Procter & Gamble in global P&L and brand management roles of increasing responsibility. David began his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. David earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar and a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Relations with Highest Honors from Brown University. |
| John-Paul W. Felter is Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller for Humana, having held this position since August 1, 2022. In this role John-Paul acts as the Company’s principal accounting officer having responsibility for all accounting functions, the establishment and maintenance of internal accounting controls and enterprise-wide financial reporting to both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and state Departments of Insurance. Before joining Humana, John-Paul most recently worked for OneAmerica Financial Partners, Inc. (OneAmerica) where he held the position of Senior Director - Investment Finance from May 2022 until June 2022, having supervisory and oversight responsibilities of certain financial accounting and investment operations. Prior to OneAmerica, John-Paul spent nearly 11 years as a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP. In this role, John-Paul oversaw large audit engagements for public and private entities with a concentration in the health insurance sector, gaining extensive experience with SEC regulatory matters including internal control over financial reporting, periodic financial statement filings, securities offerings, registration statements, and acquisitions, and advising clients on technical accounting matters including those related to government healthcare businesses. John-Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Indiana University-Indianapolis and is a certified public accountant. |
Aaron Martin joined Humana in January 2026 as President, Medicare Advantage. In this role, Aaron is responsible for leading strategy, growth, and business operations across the company’s Medicare Advantage business. He is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the company’s strategic direction, and jointly reports to the President of Insurance, George Renaudin and President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin.
Before joining Humana, Aaron most recently worked at Amazon where he held the position of Vice President of Healthcare from March 2022 until December 2025, overseeing strategic partnerships, marketing and Amazon’s telehealth and chronic conditions programs. Previously, Aaron worked at Providence St. Joseph Health, a comprehensive not-for-profit health system serving 8 states, where he held roles of increasing responsibility from 2014 through 2022, and most recently served as EVP, Chief Digital Officer and Managing General Partner for Providence Ventures. Aaron joined Providence after a previous career with Amazon.
Aaron earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in business & economics and music performance from Austin College. He also holds an MBA from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Japan Mehta, Chief Information Officer, joined Humana in February 2025. In this role, Japan is responsible for the Company's Information Technology organization, managing technology systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital & AI, and setting the technology transformation vision to enable Humana’s strategy of providing simple and personalized member experience and helping the members achieve their best health. Japan is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company's strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. Japan holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Gujarat University, Dharamsinh Desai Institute of Technology, India, and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He also holds numerous patents, across technology, digital platforms, mobile, media and entertainment. |
Celeste Mellet, Chief Financial Officer, joined Humana in January 2025. In this role, Celeste is responsible for all accounting, actuarial, analytical, financial, internal audit, investor relations, risk management, tax, and treasury activities. Celeste is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company's strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. Celeste earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University. Celeste also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Trustees of The Lawrenceville School. |
| Michelle O'Hara, Chief Human Resources Officer, joined Humana in January 2025. In this role, Michelle is responsible for leading the Company’s enterprise talent strategy and people programs. Michelle is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company's strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. Prior to joining Humana, Michelle spent 15 years at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where she most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (2019-2025). In this role, Michelle was responsible for leading all aspects of SAIC’s people strategy including organizational development and upskilling, culture transformation, talent acquisition and retention, total rewards and diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition, Michelle led SAIC’s marketing and communications functions, as well as the company’s environmental, social and governance strategy. She was accountable for fostering top talent, a strong brand and an inclusive culture to fuel SAIC’s growth and market leadership. Prior to becoming Chief Human Resources Officer in 2019, Michelle held various roles of increasing responsibility at SAIC that included talent acquisition, integrated talent management, total rewards and human resources. Before joining SAIC, Michelle served in senior leadership roles at global professional services and technology companies including BearingPoint, Perot Systems Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton. Michelle earned her bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry from The College of William & Mary. She currently serves on the board of directors and is the chair of its compensation committee for Atlantic Union Bankshares Corporation (NYSE: AUB). Michelle also serves on the board of directors for the CHRO Association, the lead public policy organization of chief human resource officers representing the largest employers doing business in the United States and globally. |
George Renaudin II serves as President, Insurance. In this role, George is responsible for leading strategy, growth, business operations excellence and profitability across the Company’s Individual Medicare Advantage, Group Medicare, Medicare Supplement, Individual Medicaid, Specialty Insurance, and Long-term Support Services businesses. He is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company’s strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin.
George joined Humana in April 2004 as part of the Company’s acquisition of Oschner Health Plan and has since held various leadership roles of increasing responsibility, most recently holding the position of President, Medicare. In this role, George had primary responsibility for the Company’s Medicare strategy and execution, leading market business operations, clinical operations, product strategy, sales and distribution, and network and provider experience for the Company’s Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement members.
George earned a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy (with an emphasis in Medicare and Heath Care Policy) from Pennsylvania State University. He is also a Crowe Scholar and Cum Laude graduate of Loyola University Law School.
Dr. Sanjay Shetty joined Humana in March 2023 as President, CenterWell. In this role, Dr. Shetty is responsible for leading strategy, growth, and business operations across the Company’s health care services businesses, including Pharmacy, Provider Services, and Home Solutions. He also leads the Humana Military segment, which partners with the Department of Defense to administer the TRICARE health program for active-duty military members, retirees and their families. He is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company’s strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. Before joining Humana, Dr. Shetty worked in health care delivery for nearly 13 years at Steward Health Care System (Steward), most recently serving as President. During his tenure at Steward, Dr. Shetty held various roles of increasing responsibility, leading the large accountable care organization, a multispecialty group practice, and acute care hospitals. Prior to Steward, Dr. Shetty worked as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company, Inc., and practiced as a radiologist and a faculty member at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Shetty earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and continues to be board certified in Diagnostic Radiology. He also has an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. |
Joseph Ventura, is Humana’s Chief Legal Officer, reporting to the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Rechtin, and serves as a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, which sets the Company’s strategic direction. Joe has responsibility for Company’s law department, enterprise compliance, corporate communications, government affairs, and administrative oversight of The Humana Foundation, working with the business teams to continually strengthen and improve Humana’s performance. Joe joined the Company’s Law Department in 2009, serving in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility until his election as Chief Legal Officer in February 2019. Prior to joining the Company, Joe was engaged in the private practice of law with Alston & Bird, LLP, in New York, specializing in corporate/securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. Joe holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was executive editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from the University of Richmond. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Louisville Bar Foundation and the Executive Committee of the Health Innovation Alliance. |
