LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that Kurt J. Hilzinger, president and chief operating officer of AmerisourceBergen, has been appointed to the company's Board of Directors. With Hilzinger, age 43, Humana's board now includes eight directors, seven of whom are not part of the company's management team.

AmerisourceBergen is a pharmaceutical services company dedicated solely to the pharmaceutical supply chain by marketing its pharmaceutical products and services to hospital systems, alternate care customers, independent community pharmacies, and regional drugstore and food merchandising chains. Hilzinger has been with AmerisourceBergen and its predecessor corporation, AmeriSource Corporation, in executive and senior executive positions since 1991. He is a certified public accountant.
