Humana signs new agreements with HCA in Florida

LOUISVILLE, KY - April 9, 2001 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that it has signed new agreements with HCA healthcare facilities in Florida.

Under the agreements, HCA's Florida hospitals and surgery centers continue to serve as participating providers for Humana health plan members in that state.

While it did not disclose the terms of the agreements, Humana indicated the impact of these contracts is in line with its previously disclosed earnings guidance for 2001.

Humana Inc., headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the nation's largest publicly traded health services companies, with approximately 5.3 million medical members located primarily in 15 states and Puerto Rico. Humana offers coordinated health insurance coverage through a variety of plans – health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, and administrative service products – to employer groups and government-sponsored plans.
