Humana Names Roy Goldman Vice President and Chief Actuary

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb 08, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that Roy Goldman has been appointed vice president and chief actuary, effective today.

Goldman comes to Humana with 31 years of progressively greater actuarial and financial management responsibility with Geisinger Health Systems, Mercy Health Plans, and Prudential Health Care Group. Before that, he was an assistant professor at Rutgers University.

Goldman holds a doctorate in mathematics from Rutgers University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Franklin and Marshall University. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and holds the credential of Charter Enterprise Risk Analyst.

Goldman will report to James H. Bloem, Humana's senior vice president and chief financial officer, who said, "We are pleased to add Roy's broad knowledge, experience and leadership to our overall actuarial competencies. I am confident he will help us continue to meet our profitable growth objectives in each of our product offerings while also furthering his lifelong dedication to the education and development of actuaries."
